This book is the Bible of steampunk. It is credited with having started the idea, though I'm not sure if that's true. All I know is it's brilliant and you should read it if you haven't already. I really don't want to give it anything away about it, so I'm just going to leave you in the knowledge that there is a character called Dandy Mick, and any book with a character with a name like that is worth reading.

Sounds sweet. I'm afraid I haven't read it but I'll be sure to pick it up next time I'm at borders.
