This is a thread I'm starting so people can inform all our members about the stores or independent sellers (etsy, ebay sellers, etc) that have become staples in they're searches for quality steampunk merchandise. Because while it's always fun to make sometimes it's just easier to buy.

Anyway when you post you should include the stores name, it's location, a website if they have it, and a description of what you can find there. When you're describing it try to mention things like whether it's cheap or expensive and what type of items can be purchased there. As you post I will update the first thread with the stores you mention to make it easier to search. But make sure to check for new posts just incase I haven't gotten around to updating it yet. Also double posting will be allowed in this thread as long as you are suggesting a new store.

Quality Retail Establishments
Alphabetical

Crystal's Idyll

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Crystalsidyll

Fantasy clothes. Dragonscale gauntlets!! Bit off-topic as I found this searching for costumes for a completely different roleplay, but I think some of the things could easily be crossovers, particularly if you're going for a bit of circus whimsy.

Decades of Fashion

1740 Haight St
between Cole & Shrader
San Francisco, CA 94117

No website

This is a vintage clothing store in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco that sells quality clothing for both men and women. They have a huge selection probably starting somewhere around the 1940's and getting older. They even have a room, only available by appointment, that has cloths in excellent condition from the Victorian era and even older, which is good resource if you can afford the cloths. As far as pricing goes it really depends on the item from what I could see things like vests and hats seemed to be reasonably priced while shoes tended to be a little pricy. The staff was a tremendous help and really knew the items they were selling. Over all it's a nice shopping experience though not one I could afford to do often.

Goorin Bros.

1446 Haight Street
San Francisco, CA, 94117
Many other locations that can be found on their website. Though I visited this one so this is the one I'm mentioning

www.goorin.com

They have a very decent selection of mostly mens hats such as fedoras and bowlers at very good prices for new hats. I purchased a bowler that I would have guessed would cost $60 and was only $40. Most of their hats, while having an old time look, are far from traditional. adding feathers and usually opting for a the popular smalle brim then antique hats have. They are a good source for nice wool hats with a modern twist.

Innversion

Corsets of all descriptions, once again a lot of custom and made to measure items available. Prices are (I think) extremely reasonable. I have one from here, a standard black underbust, and it's perfect.

BLOOMERS!! (and undershirts) made to measure - I received my first pair recently and they are lovely. Every girl needs them - makes hitching your skirt up to perform running repairs a little more decent.

Loulahbelle

Bustles and short bloomers.

lovechild boudoir

Mixture of burlesque and steampunk for the ladies - have a look at the jackets and trousers.

Maritime Arts

http://www.etsy.com/shop/MaritimeArts

Amazing reenactment wear, much of it made to measure. I haven't bought any of it yet because it is fairly pricey, but forget that - AWESOME! It isn't straight-up steampunkery but such good base wear. I would probably kill for this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?li ... d=33702157

Tea Time Inc

http://www.etsy.com/shop/teatimeinc

Nice steampunk hats and spats - also sells a variety of clothing.

Individual Jewelry Pieces

These are all fairly similar, beautiful timepiece jewellery with some other stuff chucked in. I've only bought something from Antige and it was beautiful - a small mechanism with very shiny gems in a sympathetic setting.
